Money Earned Is Three Times As Sweet

I have started a few businesses in my life-they have all not been that successful. It is a lot of work and effort-especially if you have a regular day job. It is hard work-but it is worth it for all that else comes with it.

I remember watching the movie “The Color of Money” and Paul Newman’s character is telling his young protege that “money won is twice as sweet as money earned.” It’s a great line from a great movie-but I want to add a caveat to all that he said. “Money earned working for yourself is three times as sweet as money won.” What? How can I say that?

I remember when I got my first PO for some of the services I was offering-this was my first PO and took a couple of years to get it. I earned $21,000 on that work-it took me a couple of months of part time work at night to earn it. When I got that first check and went to the bank-that was one of the greatest feelings of my life. To know that I earned this money with my own business, making my own hours, and running things my way-instead of working for some giant company. This was the best feeling I have had in a long time. There really is nothing like it. It is hard to explain-but to me earning money from my own show was just fantastic.

I know it is not for everyone to run their own business and take these risks. I highly recommend it though-even if you just do it for a short time just to see what it is like to run your own business. Run your own business and see all the licenses you need to have, all the taxes you have to pay, all the bills you have to pay, and then having to collect the money. I guarantee that you will see things in a different light and probably have a different view of your current boss.

Being an entrepreneur is a risky gamble-but one that all people should take at least once in your life. What is the worst that is going to happen? You fail a little-so what? Who cares-it is better than never even trying and just being one of the cogs in the gears of some giant corporation. I’m not against corporations and they have their place in the scheme of the economy. However, did you know that 99.7% of all businesses in the United States are small businesses. That is an astounding number-why don’t you take a chance and go for it. Create a product, a service, a brand, or something that can earn you some money. I know it will the best decision you have ever made.
